Test description:
This test is used to investigate fluid build up in the abdominal cavity which could be called a transudate (possible causes include congestive cardiac failure, nephrotic syndrome or cirrhosis) or an exudate ( possible causes include injury or inflammatory process like, tuberculosis, primary or metastatic liver cancer, , pancreatitis, ruptured gall bladder,lymphoma, sarcoidosis and autoimmune diseases)
Pretest information:
You will be asked to empty your bladder before specimen collection
